This event aims to establish a consortium of academics, clinicians and industry representatives in the field of early diagnostics. The event is designed to address the following objectives:

  • Showcase the expertise and technological developments that exist at the University of Strathclyde under the remit of early diagnostics.
  • Provide a forum to identify and discuss unmet clinical need in early diagnostics.
  • Provide an opportunity for knowledge sharing and collaboration development.
  • Establish an early diagnostics consortium / network to shape and help deliver the University’s Early Diagnostic activity.
  • Strengthen the University’s position in anticipation of future funding calls and shape the University of Strathclyde strategy to address unmet clinical need in early diagnostics.

Who should attend?

The target audience of this event will be industry representatives interested in commercial development of early diagnostics, clinicians who can pitch an unmet clinical need, academics both at and out with the University working on technologies applicable to early diagnostics (including those not traditionally included in this space) and funding bodies.

We are particularly interested to include:

  • Clinicians working in fields where early diagnosis is critical to patient outcomes, surgery and diagnostics.
  • Academics working on key affiliated topics that are not otherwise represented at the University.
  • Industry working in or seeking early diagnostic technologies, surgical guidance, ultrasound imaging, microfluidics, etc.

Benefits of attending

The need for earlier disease detection and diagnosis tools is already recognized at national and international policy levels and is reflected in a coordinated strategy of recent and upcoming funding calls. To be effective and competitive, strong interdisciplinary collaborative teams guided by clinical expertise with the flexibility to respond swiftly to emerging funding calls will be essential. Our aim is to establish such a consortium capable of making material contributions to this important field.
