The event will showcase the expertise and facilities available from the Faculty of Science through plenary presentations, pre-arranged 1-2-1 partnering meetings, tours and workshops. There will be ample networking opportunities and access to our Images of Research Exhibition. Attendees will also hear about the internal and external funding opportunities available to facilitate academic/non-academic interactions.
When you register, indicate which of the following tours and workshops you’d like to attend. The Event Team will contact you if they can’t accommodate all of your choices to ensure the selection reflects your priorities.
Your bespoke programme will then be sent to you before the event.

Chemistry Clinic |
The Chemistry Clinic is a student-led facility offering chemical analyses and development work for SMEs and larger businesses. This event will provide an opportunity for SMEs to find out how their business can be boosted by joining forces with the Chemistry Clinic. There will be time available to discuss your business needs. |
1-2-1 Statistics and Mathematics Consultancy |
The Statistics and Mathematics Advice Research and Training unit (SMART) is offering delegates a free 15 minute consultation session with a member of the team. These sessions will enable delegates to talk to an experienced professional about their mathematical/statistical challenges and CPD requirements and hear how SMART can help their organisation. |
Drop-in for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) | The Associate Dean for Knowledge Exchange will provide advice if your company or organisation is interested in learning about the CPD courses currently offered, or discussing bespoke/joint CPD opportunities. |
Introduction to the Advanced Materials Development and Testing Facilities | The Advanced Materials Research Laboratory aids the development of world class research and knowledge exchange in materials science and engineering. It combines Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering and Civil Engineering laboratories to provide a hub for multidisciplinary research ranging from nano-scale characterisation through to component testing. |
Monitoring batch to continuous production of pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals | Hyperspectral Imaging could offer a tool to enable continuous mapping of flow dynamics during pharmaceutical manufacture. Find out more about this exciting new application being developed as part of the ICT-CMAC project and discuss with the project team how this, and other project outputs could benefit your manufacturing processes. |
Tour of IBioIC Rapid Bioprocess Prototyping Centre (RBPC) |
The RBPC houses the most advanced technology available to rigorously assess the potential of new cell lines, bio-products and novel approaches to bioprocessing. |
Centre for Biophotonics | The Centre for Biophotonics is our advanced optical light microscopy imaging facility. Wide range of commercial microscopes, home-built microscopes and analysis software available. Hear about our soon to be launched Mesolab. The Mesolens microscope allows faster, deeper wider and more sensitive imaging than what is currently available. It makes possible the imaging of relatively large specimens, such as embryos or tumours with full 3D recording of thousands of cells. |
