Scotland's Universities and the 1+2 Language PolicyThe Next Step

This event will start with an outline of proposals in support of the ambitious and challenging 1 + 2 language policy, building on the successful outcomes of last year's event. Delegates will then be invited to join a discussion which will feed into a long-term and sustainable language promotion strategy through a series of national cross-sector initiatives between schools and universities.The event also aims to establish a Scotland-wide research network related to languages, language pedagogy and language policy across the sectors generally, and the 1+2 language policy specifically.

Registration is from 1.30pm with refreshments available, the event will start at 2.00pm.

  • Senior officers from Education Scotland.

  • Curriculum leaders from local authorities and independent schools in Scotland.

  • Representatives from Scottish Government.
