Transitioning Glasgow’s textiles industry into a circular economy is one route to achieving the city’s 2030 sustainability goals. The aim of this session is to gain insight into the existing network of stakeholders working towards a circular textiles economy within Glasgow, existing barriers and what needs to change in order to achieve a circular economy. The session will begin with a panel discussion between industry experts followed by a summary of existing academic research on the role stakeholders play in circular economies. Participants will then have the opportunity to participate in dissertation research by discussing their own experiences.

Who should attend?

Stakeholders within the fashion and textiles industry with insight into circular activities taking place in and outside of Glasgow and those who wants to make a change to current processes beyond recycling. We are particularly interested in those who are currently facing barriers to implement circular activities and require support.

Benefits of attending

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a panel of stakeholders currently working towards a circular economy in the textiles industry. There will be a summary of existing academic research in this field identifying barriers and opportunities, and the opportunity to network with other participants working towards a more sustainable textiles industry.
