In responding to the COVID 19 pandemic, a design driven approach allowed projects to be delivered in weeks rather than years. As a core competence of the Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI), creative practice has added value and benefit at each stage within the innovation process, from creative engagement with users to derive insight and define requirements, through the development and analysis of interactive prototypes and into the delivery of products and services.

Using examples and case studies, Don McIntyre will outline how design innovation and creative practice is a proven, differentiating capability within the DHI.

Who should attend?

Though the topic and focus will be particularly relevant to individuals and organisations who are interested in the role design can play in supporting an innovation pipeline in health and care, the talk will draw upon experiences in other sectors where design has proven to be a differentiating capability.

Benefits of attending

The talk will provide examples of how to escape from ‘analysis paralysis’ and how design can be used to create an environment where insight can be established and creative techniques employed to generate solutions.
