Registration from 9:45 amIf global food waste were a country, it would be the third largest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the US . In the UK households currently waste around 4.5 million tonnes of edible food every year. However, addressing the challenge of food waste is a complex, systemic issue requiring changes in policy, supply chain, consumption and attitudes.
The aim of this event is to create an agenda for research around Food Waste. We will have a expert panel with colleagues from Strathclyde, alongside local food suppliers and food waste organisations. Attendees will then participate in an exercise to set the agenda for this important area of research and to continue the conversation.
This event is targeted at academics, public and third sector organisations interested in contributing to future research around understanding food waste and food waste reduction.
This event gives you the opportunity to meet other people working in this area and learn about current initiatives and challenges around food waste.
We are looking to build a community of researchers and practitioners to collaborate on agenda setting, funding bids, knowledge exchange and community impact.
