2018 marked 30 years since the introduction of Section 28, a controversial piece of legislation prohibiting the ‘promotion of homosexuality’ in schools and local authority services. Repealed in Scotland in 2001, we have since witnessed significant changes in LGBTQI+ inclusion across the education sectors – most recently via the Scottish Government’s commitment to implement LGBT-inclusive education across Scottish state schools.
Through archival displays, film screenings, and interactive sessions, join researchers from Strathclyde’s School of Education to explore these issues and tensions further. Speakers will include:
