This event aims to highlight estrangement in higher education, with a focus on the experiences of students who are estranged from their families.

‘Estranged students' face challenges in accessing and completing their studies, including financial pressure, difficulty securing stable accommodation and mental health issues connected to stress and isolation. These barriers set ‘estranged students’ apart from other groups, and Higher Education Institution's continue to be unequal and ‘strange’ for widening participation students.
