Repair Café at Engage with Strathclyde

Thursday, 3rd May 2018, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Registration for this event is closed

A pop-up Repair Café will be in the Technology and Innovation Centre on Thursday 3rd May (11am – 2pm) providing an opportunity for you to bring hand-portable, damaged, broken or torn possessions to be repaired.

The aim of the Repair Café is to show you how to make repairs to your possessions in future and reduce waste by extending the use of an item that would otherwise be disposed of.  Whilst helping with the repair, you can enjoy a free refreshment.

Our experienced team will be able to take a look at:

  • Bicycles (outside of the building).
  • Hand-held devices with general mechanical faults.
  • Textile repairs.

Please note, no electrical repairs can be taken.

Repairs are not guaranteed but repairers will explain why or how it can be done, if for instance there are missing parts.

This is a drop-in-style event with repairs being taken on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please register in advance so we can ensure we have enough staff to repair!

Who should attend?

All are welcome to attend this event, especially those who may be looking to learn how to repair items and those who want to have their item fixed, while meeting new people and enjoying refreshments.  Please also come along and watch, even if you nothing specific to repair.

Benefits of attending

This event is an opportunity to repair and re-use possessions that would be otherwise be disposed of. Attendees will have the chance to work with an experienced repairer, learn about the repair process and help identify the problem(s).
