Entrepreneurial Ecosystems Activity ExchangeEntrepreneurial Universities learning from each other

This networking lunch and activity exchange event is a platform for Higher Education Institute (HEI) staff who coordinate and facilitate activities that link academics, students or alumni to entrepreneurs and resource providers in their university’s wider entrepreneurial ecosystem and also HEI staff who have strategic or management responsibility for the interface between the university and its entrepreneurial ecosystem.  This is a unique opportunity for HEI staff who work “at the coal face” with entrepreneurial students, staff and alumni to exchange knowledge with people who do similar work in HEIs across Scotland.

This event will start with lunch and a chance for delegates to meet others operating in this field to share best practice and find out how to enhance their university’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly activities that link to entrepreneurs beyond the university. This will be followed by a poster session featuring activities that facilitate university entrepreneurial ecosystems.

We especially welcome delegates who can contribute posters describing their own activities and initiatives, particularly event managers and their assistants.  There is no charge for this event, which is sponsored by Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and transport costs from within Scotland will be reimbursed for delegates who supply at least one poster.

Delegates should supply a powerpoint slide formatted for A1 size to j.levie@strath.ac.uk by 5pm on April 24th. The conference organisers will make an A1 laminated poster from the slide at no cost to delegates, and delegates may take the poster home with them after the event.

It’s easy to make a poster! Posters don’t have to be fancy – but they should try to be eye-catching. So devote as much space to visuals as to text.  Photos of the activity are great, as are quotes from participants. If you have impressive impact results, this is your chance to show them off! But even if you have only started doing the activity, it is still worth exhibiting. You are sure to get useful tips and suggestions from participants. Think about what someone who might be thinking of doing a similar activity on their campus would like to know: who it is aimed at, how they benefit, what they do, what resources are needed, how many people participate, when is the best time to do it, etc.

There will be a special prize for the best poster!

Registration and lunch will be available from 12.30 pm

Who should attend?

  • HEI staff who are running activities that link academics, students or alumni to entrepreneurs and resource providers in the university’s wider entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • HEI staff who have strategic or management responsibility for the interface between the university and its entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Benefits of attending

A unique insight into different activities that enhance entrepreneurship ecosystems in HEIs from the people that actually operate them. If you are running, or want to run, an activity such as entrepreneurship training, networking, or mentoring, or any other activity aimed at potential or practising entrepreneurs, this is for you.

This event is generously sponsored by Highlands and Islands Enterprise as part of a series of workshops on Scotland’s university entrepreneurial ecosystems.
