Measuring Real Human Motion in Virtual Environments

Wednesday, 2nd May 2018, 10:00 am - 4:45 pm

The Biomedical Engineering Department has world leading facilities, including the Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment: CAREN.

This demonstration will be of interest to those with impaired mobility and their carers as well as healthcare workers.  You will get the chance to see CAREN in action, have a go yourself and take the opportunity to discuss how this technology could be used by you/in your organisation through collaboration, contract research and consultancy for example.

The slots have been timed to coincide with the other events taking place on campus, each will have a small capacity giving sufficient time for a demo of CAREN and for one-to-one discussions.  Please select the timeslot you require at the point of registration (10am or 3.45pm).  Please note it is at least a 15 minute walk from the Technology and Innovation Centre on George Street to the Facility on Cathedral Street.

Who should attend?

  • Those with mobility impairment and their carers.
  • Healthcare professionals (physiotherapists, OTs, Speech and Language Therapists, nurses and relevant healthcare workers, Prosthetists/Orthotists, Clinical Scientists).

Benefits of attending

This is an opportunity to experience and try out cutting-edge technology that measures human motion whilst interacting in a virtual environment. Even if you have no idea how this technology could help you before attending, this event should stimulate innovative future possibilities and we can discuss how the University of Strathclyde Biomedical Engineering Department can help your work/projects.
