As the UK moves towards a low-carbon future, renewable energy is playing an increasingly prominent role in the energy supply. At the same time, the need for flexible demand is becoming more apparent, to maximise the benefit of renewable generation and maintain a secure supply of energy.

This event will showcase the outcomes from a major research effort into the role of thermal energy storage in future more flexible energy networks. Specifically, the event will look at how thermal storage can be increased and better integrated into buildings, and the benefits that this could offer to network operators, building owners and consumers.

Please download a copy of the programme here.

Registration and refreshments will be available from 1.30pm.  You are also invited to attend the Images of Research Opening Night event which starts at 5.30pm, please select this option at registration.

Who should attend?

  • Architects and building design professionals.
  • Energy service providers.
  • Network operators.
  • Technology developers.

Benefits of attending

Attendees will gain valuable insight into:

  • The extent of flexible demand offered to the network by storage.
  • Different options for thermal storage beyond hot water.
  • Materials, insulation and working fluids for thermal stores.
  • Integration options for storage and buildings.
