Wednesday, 2nd May 2018, 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Registration from 4:00 pm

This event will examine the challenges and opportunities associated with the important duty of ensuring that young people within the youth justice system are not only given opportunities to express their views, but that those views are heard, listened to and responded to.

This event will feature young people who have experienced the youth justice system providing an insight into this issue, as well as practitioners who have experience of promoting best practice. This event seeks to provide a vehicle through which discussion, learning, thought and debate can take place which generates impetus amongst attendees to make changes in their respective spheres.

Who should attend?

Practitioners, academics and students interested in the rights, welfare and participation of young people. In particular, those involved in the Children’s Hearing System, Looked After and Accommodated Child process, justice services or indeed any stage of the youth justice system may be interested in this event.

Benefits of attending

Attendees will gain an insight into the views of young people who seek to have their views heard within the youth justice system and contribute to a discussion about the best way to enshrine best practice.  Those in attendance will have opportunities to network with likeminded colleagues and to hear first-hand the views of young people.
