Wednesday, 2nd May 2018, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
The Biomedical Engineering department has been a centre of innovation in rehabilitation technology for a number of years and we would like to give stroke survivors, engineers and therapists the opportunity to come and try out our current projects in stroke rehabilitation as well as commercially available products. This will include mobile phone apps for speech therapy, gait and sit-to-stand training, arm exercisers and virtual reality.
The exhibition will be a drop-in event between 11.00am and 2.00pm with refreshments available. This will be followed by an optional workshop on the barriers to using these technologies at home, which you can book at the point of registration.
While on campus, you may also be interested in taking part in a demonstration of CAREN - Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment. The 1-hour slots have been timed to coincide with the showcase and you can attend at either 10.00am or 3.00pm. Each will have a limited capacity giving sufficient time for a demo of CAREN and for one-to-one discussions. Please visit the event page to book a timeslot.
The event is aimed at all users of rehabilitation equipment and technology including:
This is an opportunity to influence the development of new technologies by engaging with our researchers and product developers. You will get a chance to try out some of the rehabilitation technologies and contribute your thoughts on how we can overcome the barriers preventing the widespread use of these technologies at home.
