Cognition and Brain Activity in Creative Product Design

Friday, 4th May 2018, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Registration from 1:45 pm
Registration for this event is closed

This event will showcase several ground-breaking neuroscientific and cognitive studies on creative product design currently under way at the University of Strathclyde. Topics will include the world’s first neuroimaging studies on creative product design ideation (fMRI and EEG), different aspects of cognition in design (synthesis, gestures, and incubation), and the analysis and measurement of creative design. Delegates will have the opportunity to attend presentations, explore each topic through discussion with the researchers, and chat about potential participation.

The research forms part of a multidisciplinary project on cognition and brain activity in design, called ImagineD, led by researchers from the Department of Design, Manufacture and Engineering Management and School of Psychological Sciences and Health. Keep up to date with the project via our Facebook page.

Registration and refreshments will be available from 1.45pm.

Who should attend?

This event will be of interest to professional product designers and colleagues, design students, academics, and anyone generally interested in product design and creativity. Participants from our fMRI and cognitive studies are particularly encouraged to attend.

Benefits of attending

  • Learn about the world’s first neuroimaging studies on creative product design, and the latest advances in the cognitive science of product design creativity.
  • Establish relationships with researchers and academics active in the area.
  • Network with other design practitioners.
