Partnership Programmes to Retain Staff and Develop Graduate Engineers

This half-day event will showcase the opportunities afforded to employers in the engineering sector looking to recruit, retain and develop their workforce.  Delegates will hear about the Engineering Academy and the recently launched programme Graduate Apprenticeship in Engineering: Design and Manufacture (GA EDM).  The event will feature keynote presentations from:

  • Paul Sheerin (Chief Executive Officer, Scottish Engineering).
  • Billy Scott (Engineering Sector Manager, Skills Development Scotland).
  • Dr Andrew McLaren (Vice Dean Academic, Faculty of Engineering).

There will also be interactive workshops and industry case studies with insights from employees currently undertaking training and their employers (including Cummins and Rumbol Products Limited), and together they will:

  • Highlight the benefits of hosting Engineering Academy internships.
  • Highlight the opportunities to develop and retain the talent pipeline through the integrated work-based learning GA EDM degree programme.
  • Share the learner and employer perspectives of the benefits and challenges experienced through the partnership approach to this graduate apprenticeship.
  • Highlight forthcoming Graduate Apprenticeship Frameworks.

This event is designed for engineering employers and other stakeholders coping with the challenges of identifying graduates in manufacturing, research and technology. 

It will be of particular interest to individuals with responsibility for engineering workforce development, employee retention and widening participation in STEM occupations.
