Engaging Beyond Academia 2: Aspiration, Innovation and ChangeHumanities and Social Sciences: Graduate School and School of Education

Thursday, 4th May 2017, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Registration from 9:30 am

Keynote speaker: Vanessa Collingridge (broadcaster and author)

Following on from our Engage 2016 event Exploring Careers Beyond Academia, this year’s Graduate School event will be run in collaboration with the School of Education. It will celebrate the diversity of external engagement opportunities being developed by undergraduate and postgraduate research students across Scotland.

The day will include presentations from students working with a Children’s Library at a local primary school, a homework club, a postgraduate development blog at Glasgow University and a collaborative doctoral project with Glasgow Women’s Library. Vanessa Collingridge will also run an interactive workshop on engaging the media with your work. The day will end with a panel session focusing on the three core themes of the event: aspiration, innovation and change.

The event will thus promote knowledge-sharing between students both within and beyond Strathclyde and facilitate introductions between students and external partners, enabling ideas for future collaboration and engagement to be shared and networks across Scotland to be broadened.

Registration and refreshments will be available from 9.30am.  This event is free to attend and lunch will be provided.
