Becoming an Engaging Researcher

Becoming an engaging researcher is incredibly rewarding! It develops your transferable skills, contributes to accountability, can open up doors to funding streams, and boosts your university’s relationship with communities both locally and further afield.

This free one day event open to anyone interested in engaging the public through research.  The day will give a broad overview of public engagement through interactive talks from internal and external public engagement practitioners, and a showcase of engagement activities from key researchers throughout the UK.

In addition, the event will set out the aims and objectives of the Becoming an Engaging Researcher module which is available for postgraduate researchers and research staff through the Researcher Development Programme at the University of Strathclyde.

Registration will take place from 9.15am.

Anyone interested in engaging the public through research:

  • PhD students.

  • Research staff.

  • Companies or community groups.

Benefits of attending

  • Hear from experienced public engagement practitioners, including talk and demonstration from ‘Stunt Scientist’, presenter on Sky One’s ‘Brainiac: Science Abuse’, Guinness World Record Holder and five-time Blue Peter Badge Holder, Tom Pringle aka Dr Bunhead!
  • This is part of a 10 credit module for Postgraduate students from the University of Strathclyde.
  • It will be a great opportunity to network with others involved in public engagement.
