IBioIC Skills for Industry Day 2017

This event focuses on the current and future skills challenges of the Biotechnology, Life and Chemical Science sectors of Scotland and the skills pipeline required to meet these challenges.

Through presentation and interactive workshops, the event will address the challenges associated with:

  • Doctoral training - core and soft-skills development.
  • Graduate attributes for a successful biotechnology career.
  • The Apprenticeship Levy and up-skilling of existing workforce.
  • Developing young talent from Foundation Apprenticeships to HND and beyond.

The event will review the talent pipeline produced by IBioIC and its partner institutions to date, and will consider the quality, content and breadth of the academic qualifications provided, identify skills gaps and propose skills initiatives to IBioIC for the short to medium term.

External contributors include:

  • Dr Ronnie Palin- Skills Development Scotland
  • Dr Keira Geddes - Glasgow Clyde College

Registration and refreshments will be available from 9.30am.

  • University partners involved in the delivery of IBioIC MSc.
  • Providers of the HND in Industrial Biotechnology.
  • Other training providers with activity in Industrial Biotechnology and Life Science sectors.

  • Secondary science teachers.
