Breaking Barriers: A New Vision An alternative route into higher education for people who have learning disabilities

Friday, 12th May 2023, 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Registration from 11:30 am

Young people who have learning disabilities need support to aid their transition from secondary to post-secondary education. Such support is imperative to better prepare these students and ensure increased opportunities for success and enjoyment of university life. The key is understanding the student's capabilities and potential to improve throughout their university or college journey. This forum will discuss:

  • How to best determine an individual's readiness to move to the next stage of their transition
  • How to facilitate transition through collaborative learning
  • How to support and nurture their university/college/career aspirations
  • How to provide and support a direct transition pathway from higher education to employment

Participants are welcome to join us for a networking lunch following the event.

Who should attend?

This event is for past, present and future students and their families of our Breaking Barriers programme. Organisations and charities that support people who have learning disabilities, parents, and industry partners.
