Professor Iain Stewart, academic and TV presenter, is visiting the University of Strathclyde to present an evening lecture titled: Travels in Lands that Don't Exist. This will be a popular and accessbile gateway into modern geoscience.
Drawing on his recent TV series, Iain journeys through the ancient geography of Pangaea, exploring how the break-up of a super-continent 250 million years ago still defines landscape, livliehood and life across our modern world.
Professor Stewart is a Geologist and Professor of Geoscience Communication at the University of Plymouth. He studied at Strathclyde and Bristol universities, where his research included work on volcanoes in the Mediterranean. He has presented a number of series about geology and the landscape. These include Men of Rock, Earth: The Power of the Planet and How to Grow a Planet.
