Talking HistoryThe Scottish Oral History Centre: Engaging Communities

The Scottish Oral History Centre invites you to the launch of a new Centre of research and training.  Participants are welcome to explore the new facilities, and learn about the work and expertise of the staff, and the ways in which the Centre engages with academics and the wider community.  There will be an exhibition showcasing the work of the Centre, its research projects and partnerships with external organisations, community groups and the public.

The event will include a presentation by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the representative will be available to discuss individual questions about obtaining funding.

Registration 1.30 pm, event 2.00pm

The event will be followed by a networking reception and public lecture by the pioneer of oral history, Prof. Paul Thompson, University of Essex, and author of The Voice of the Past preceded by an introduction on the work of the Scottish Oral History Centre by Profs Callum Brown and Arthur McIvor.  For more information or to register follow this link Evening session (5.00-7.45 pm).
